A common misconception about massage is that it's only part of a spa day and intended for pampering yourself. While this may be true for some people, it is most frequently a tool for stress reduction and pain relief.

Some specific conditions that massage can help include:

Anxiety
Depression
Digestive disorders
Fibromyalgia
Headache
Insomnia
Nerve pain
Postoperative care
Scar tissue
Soft tissue strains and injuries
Sports injuries
Temporomandibular (TMJ) disorders
Physical benefits

For most patients, massage therapy is an important part of specific medical treatment plans to help them return to daily activities. For example, massage therapy is helpful after joint replacement surgery or injury.

Physical benefits of massage include:

Improved circulation
Decreased muscle stiffness
Decreased joint inflammation
Better quality of sleep
Quicker recovery between workouts
Improved flexibility
Less pain and soreness
Strengthened immune response

Mental benefits

Massage also has many mental health benefits. Even people who are focused on the physical benefits say they feel less stressed after getting a massage.

Ashiatsu Bar Therapy, is a barefoot massage technique in which the therapist delivers deep, broad, consistent pressure while utilizing their feet and body weight. Working with gravity instead of against it, Ashiatsu therapists are able to provide an effective therapeutic massage without causing pain or discomfort to themselves or the receiving client.

Deep Tissue Without Discomfort

If your are in need of deep tissue work, but don’t enjoy the discomfort that comes with pointy elbows and thumbs, then Ashiatsu Bar Therapy® is the treatment for you! Gravity enables Ashiatsu therapists to deliver up to 3x deeper pressure than with traditional hands-on treatments. Utilizing the broad surface of their foot as the massage tool provides consistent pressure and contours nicely to the body. As a result clients will enjoy the same extra range of movement and decrease in chronic tension relief without having to endure painful strokes.

As female Baby Boomers age, they are likely to experience pelvic health problems with increasing frequency. Knowledge of the female pelvic musculature is essential to understanding the pathophysiology of conditions such as urinary incontinence (UI) and pelvic organ prolapse (POP). In addition, this knowledge helps examiners more accurately interpret findings from a digital pelvic examination. Conditions such as UI usually occur as result of a dysfunction of the bladder and/or the urethra along with, in most cases, weakness of the pelvic floor muscles (PFMs).
